Happy National Public Lands Day!
Today we celebrate our shared commitment to protecting our public lands here in Tennessee—some of the most beautiful and diverse landscapes in all the country.
Public lands provide:
- Economic boosts to surrounding areas through increased tourism and outdoor recreation opportunities
- Increased opportunities for all to fall in love with our unique landscapes—a shared environmental ethic to protect and care for these special places
- Educational opportunities for folks of all ages: from schoolchildren exploring rivers and streams; to landowners learning best management practices for their forested lands; to Tennesseans discovering our state’s rich history—both natural and human-made
- Outdoor recreation opportunities like hiking, climbing, strolling, fishing, hunting, wildlife watching, paddling, cycling, and so much more
- Health benefits—beyond the recreational opportunities—such as protecting our water and air so that our communities can thrive
Our public lands give us so much, and today we celebrate them and give back!
TennGreen Land Conservancy is proud to have partnered with the Tennessee Department of Environment & Conservation, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, the U.S. National Park Service, local government groups, and other conservation organizations to create or expand significant public lands in Tennessee.
