Join TennGreen for a hike on the Cumberland Trail, explore the Head of Sequatchie, and learn about TennGreen’s conservation work in the area! This event includes walking the Falcon Warrior Trail and the Selby Loop Trail as they wind through open pasture, along Selby Creek, and past two striking natural features on the Cumberland Plateau: the spring-fed headwaters of the Sequatchie River, and the mouth of Devilstep Hollow Cave. Enjoy the early autumn air and beautiful sights during an easy round-trip three-mile hike at Dog Cove. Walk along the creek, pass by huge sandstone boulders, and experience the historic Jimmy Davis Homestead with beautiful, original two-story sandstone chimneys built in the late 19th century. Following the hike at Dog Cove, we will return to vehicles and caravan four miles to Lost Creek Falls State Natural Area for a ¼ mile hike to gorgeous Lost Creek Falls, and the massive entrance to Lost Creek Cave.

TennGreen invites you to join us on a morning walk to learn about the latest wildlife identification apps and digital tools. Starting at the Warner Park Nature Center, we’ll set out on an easy 2-mile hike, where we’ll stop to identify, photograph, and learn about the species we encounter along the way. Whether you’re a longtime birder, or brand new to nature ID technology, we’ll walk through how these tools work, and how simple observations contribute towards meaningful ecological monitoring.

TennGreen is excited to partner with our friends at the Cumberland Trail Conservancy to help build the Cumberland Trail. Join us as we work on the Audubon Section in Sale Creek, north of Chattanooga. Spend a day giving back to the Cumberland Trail and helping create lasting outdoor experiences for future hikers. Whether you’re an experienced trail worker or a first-timer, this volunteer day is a great opportunity to get outside, learn new skills, and make a meaningful impact. No prior trail-building experience is required. We’ll provide training, tools, and safety equipment. Just bring your enthusiasm and willingness to work as part of a team. Volunteers will hike to and from the worksite. Once on site, tasks may include trail construction activities such as digging tread, moving rock, clearing corridor, improving drainage, and maintaining tools to help keep the trail safe and sustainable. Trail work is physical and can be strenuous, but it’s also rewarding, educational, and a lot of fun. Come prepared to get a little dirty, meet great people, and help build Tennessee’s longest hiking trail! This volunteer day runs from 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. Eastern Time (ET). Enjoy beautiful fall sights atop the Cumberland Plateau on this hike in one of Tennessee’s newest State Parks. The 3-mile Sherwood Day Loop features beautiful views of Crow Creek Valley, as the trail follows along many rock formations including a natural bridge. Head of the Crow State Park, located in Franklin County, spans 4,258 acres. The park contains the headwaters of Crow Creek and offers a karst landscape sprawling with hardwood forests, caves, sinkholes, and rare wildlife.

Join us for a Friday nature walk to explore and learn about Middle Tennessee’s unique cedar glades! Limestone cedar glades are globally unique and fragile habitats found primarily in Middle Tennessee. Cedar glade ecosystems support a plant community of highly specialized species, many of which are found nowhere else in the world. Please join us for an easy ~2.5-mile stroll through Lamar Cedar Glades to learn about some of these unique plants. Photo by Michael Mauritz

Join TennGreen and Harpeth River State Park for a guided tour of Mound Bottom State Archaeological Area. This unique archaeological site, located along the scenic Harpeth River, features 12 earthen mounds constructed by Native peoples during the Mississippian period. TennGreen helped acquire the gateway to Mound Bottom, securing trail access in and out of the property. We’ll be joined by a park ranger on a 2.5 mile hike to view the ancient mounds and learn the history of one of Middle Tennessee’s most unique historical sites.
