On September 12, 2024, game sponsor TennGreen Land Conservancy cheered on our Tennessee Smokies as they took on the Birmingham Barons. Executive Director Alice Hudson Pell threw the first pitch, setting the tone for a fantastic evening of baseball and steering the Smokies to a 5-2 victory.

“From throwing the first pitch to sharing stadium treats with colleagues and friends, I can’t think of a better way to spend a Thursday evening,” Hudson Pell lauded. “Watching our Smokies beat the Barons on the way to the 2024 playoffs was the icing on the cake.”

TennGreen’s sponsorship was made possible by the generosity of Board Member Matthew McClanahan, practicing attorney and Executive Director of the Tennessee Association of Conservation Districts.

“We had an excellent time. I am ecstatic to get TennGreen’s critical work front and center during Thursday night’s game,” McClanahan added. “We’ll definitely be making a habit out of it. The Smokies team and staff were great hosts.”

Just before the 3rd inning, Director of Communications Jon D. B. joined the Smokies’ broadcast for a live radio interview, covering TennGreen’s recent role in expanding new Tennessee state parks alongside the importance of protecting our beautiful state’s natural spaces in the spirit of health, recreation, and safeguarding our future.

Much of TennGreen’s staff and board were in attendance and are looking forward to returning to support the Smokies in Knoxville with the completion of their new stadium in 2025.
