Jon D. B. is TennGreen Land Conservancy’s Director of Communications. In his role, Jon is responsible for the strategic planning for and integration of conservation into brand goals, objectives, and strategies, as well as for the strategic communications, marketing, and public relations for TennGreen.
A Nashville native, Jon is a naturalist and author by passion and profession with over a decade of experience in both fields. Certified in behavioral husbandry by the AZA Accredited Nashville Zoo and wildlife rescue by Walden’s Puddle, alongside working as a Naturalist and Comms Specialist for Appalachian Bear Rescue, Jon brings an intimate knowledge of our wild spaces and their residents to his role at TennGreen.
Alongside naturalist work, Jon has experienced all facets of the storytelling industry with backgrounds in publishing, copywriting, and creative direction in his previous positions as Lead Publisher for Outsider.com and EX.CO. Working closely with the National Park Service, Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom, National Wildlife Federation, Paramount, National Geographic/Disney, and more in these positions, Jon brings these fruitful relationships to TennGreen in hopes of expanding our capacity to conserve Tennessee’s brilliance.
Jon is also currently working on a comprehensive guide to the black bears of the Great Smoky Mountains with colleagues from across conservation.
