Stillhouse Hollow Falls
Through a collaborative partnership, TennGreen Land Conservancy assisted in the designation of a 90.35-acre State Natural Area that includes a 75-foot-high waterfall.
Stillhouse Hollow Falls is a 75-foot high waterfall in the center of a 90.35-acre property that was designated as a State Natural Area and officially opened to the public on June 3, 2006. Stillhouse Hollow is located on an unnamed tributary stream of Big Bigby Creek, one of two primary streams that feed the Duck River. The short, one-mile hike leading to the falls is rich with wildflowers in the spring: a perfect day-trip to view Yellow Trout Lily, Spring Beauty, Cut-Leaf Toothworth and many more.
The Swan Conservation Trust approached TennGreen Land Conservancy for assistance in protecting this waterfall and its surrounding lands to protect the “Maury State Forest” from fragmentation and development. With the leadership and generosity of many private supporters, TennGreen was able to purchase the land and transfer it to the Tennessee Department of Environment & Conservation’s Division of State Natural Areas.
