Branstetter Land Gift
Because of the Branstetter family’s thoughtful donation of land, 15 acres of forested hillside in Nashville will remain undeveloped—providing critical habitat for animals and plants seeking solace in an increasingly human-dominated landscape.
In early 2019, Dewey Branstetter, Kay Johnson, Linda Roach, and Jane Stranch (the Branstetters) generously donated 15 acres of their family’s land in Nashville to TennGreen Land Conservancy.
This forested hillside frames the Bellevue Valley Shopping Center along Highway 70 S and provides a scenic backdrop to the highly-developed and bustling area near Edwin and Percy Warner Parks. With Nashville’s explosive growth, many developers are building homes and commercial properties on its rolling hills and forested landscapes. These development practices can be extremely harmful by increasing flood impacts, damaging the aesthetic quality of the hillsides, and destroying the natural character of the city.
Because of the Branstetters’ thoughtful donation, this sloping, forested property will remain in a natural state, providing critical habitat for animals and plants seeking solace in an increasingly human-dominated landscape. While the Branstetter property is in TennGreen’s ownership, conservancy staff will maintain the land and provide opportunities for public visitation.
