In 2020, TennGreen Land Conservancy formally established a Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) Committee. The purpose of this Committee is to ensure that TennGreen ingrains its justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion values into its mission, its communications, its atmosphere, and its work.
Laurel Graefe, a member of TennGreen’s Board of Directors, is the Chair of the JEDI Committee. In its first year, the Committee has focused on establishing a comprehensive plan to:
- Identify and grow TennGreen staff and Board cultural competencies
- Ensure that all TennGreen policies and procedures are inclusive
- Recommend opportunities to engage under-served and demographically diverse constituencies and communities in the critical work of conservation
At TennGreen Land Conservancy, we acknowledge and honor the fundamental value and dignity of all individuals. We strive to nurture a culture where inclusiveness is a reflex, not an initiative—where there’s a deep sense of belonging and respect across every region, organization, and individual touched by our work. We pledge ourselves to the work of understanding and honoring diverse traditions, heritages, and experiences and endeavor to actively uplift our values of justice and equity in everything we do.
