Roaring River Recreation Area
This attractive reservation is located just outside Gainesboro at the confluence of the Roaring River with the Cumberland, and offers picnic grounds, a concrete boat ramp with a paved parking area, restrooms with flush toilets, a playground and a swimming beach. A site host is on duty during the season. Picnic shelters may be reserved at least four days in advance through Recreation.gov; reservation fees are $50 for the first 50 users and another $50 for each additional fifty users. Camping is NOT permitted; the former Roaring River Campground is closed.
A $4 day use fee is charged for use of the area. Bearers of current Golden Age/Golden Access or America the Beautiful Interagency Senior Pass of Interagency Access Pass receive a 50% discount on the fee; the regular America the Beautiful Interagency Annual Pass is not accepted. Frequent users of Cordell Hull Reservoir facilities may purchase a $30 annual pass. There is no charge for children under 12. The area is closed from approximately late November to late May.
