Cane Creek Park
Administered by the City of Cookeville’s Department of Leisure Services, this 262-acre park features a 56-acre lake, three picnic shelters, walking and hiking trails, an eighteen-hole disc golf course, and basketball and volleyball courts.
There are three picnic shelters and numerous picnic tables. Shelters can be reserved by calling the administrative office. Rates are $10/hour for the Hilltop and Courtside shelters (each of which can hold up to 100 people) and $8/hour for the Lakeside Shelter (which can accommodate 50 people).
Fishing on the lake is very popular; it is well-stocked with largemouth bass, crappie, bream, carp and catfish. Rainbow trout are stocked in the winter. There is a boat ramp for the use of non-motorized boats and boats with electric trolling motors; gas motors are prohibited. Regular Tennessee state fishing regulations apply, including the requirement for a state trout license when fishing for rainbow trout.
Paddleboats can be rented for use on the lake at the concession stand. The rates are $3 for a half-hour for a 2-person boat, and $4 a half-hour for a 4-person boat. Children 12 and under must have an adult in the boat and must wear a personal flotation device. The concession stand also rents basketballs, volleyballs, disc golf discs, and fishing poles for $1 an hour. The concession stand is open from the first Saturday in April to mid-October.
The park is open year-round, with hours varying with the season. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted.
